RWE npower Proposal
[The following information is from "Molesworth Wind Farm Planning Submission" (Planning Reference: 1200967FUL) submitted by RWE npower in July 2012"]

RWE npower is proposing to build a wind farm at Bythorn in Huntingdonshire. The site lies to the North of Bythorn and to the West of Molesworth and South of Clopton on the Northern Wolds.

The site is currently arable farmland.

The proposal comprises 6 wind turbines with a maximum height to blade tip of 126 m.

Each would sit on a concrete base with a diameter of approximately 18 m diameter and a depth of approximately 2.5 m. This sits on a series of concrete piles 15m deep.

A large single storey substation with associated transformers and electrical equipment would built as well as a secure compound of 50m x 50m surrounded by a steel palisade security fence. There would also be an anemometry mast of the same height as the hub height of the turbines.

It is likely the wind farm will connect to a new substation located in the southwest area of the site.

Access to the site for specalised low loader lorries and HGVs would be via a new site entrance from the public highway network. A network of access tracks (approx. 5m wide) would be required.

The construction period would be approximately 12 months.

It is proposed that the wind farm would be possible to be decommissioned after 25 years.
