Update 6 February 2012

Hello Everyone,

No planning application has been submitted yet by npower to Huntingdon District Council for the proposed Wind Farm at Molesworth.

You may have seen in the news over the weekend that over 100 MPs have written to the Prime Minister urging a rethink over the subsidies given to wind turbines “we ask the Government to dramatically cut the subsidy for on-shore wind and spread the savings made between other types of reliable renewable energy production and energy efficiency measures.” Follow this link for the letter The letter also states “We also are worried that the new National Planning Policy Framework, in its current form, diminishes the chances of local people defeating unwanted on-shore wind farm proposals through the planning system.” Also please see the link below for the article in the Telegraph

It is important you write in the next few days, stating your views, to the Prime Minister in support of these MPs and copy in your local MP and any local or national newspaper to demonstrate that the views of these MPs are representative of the majority of those living in rural areas which are under threat of industrialization from wind turbines being erected less than a kilometre from their homes. As you know our local area has 3 planning decisions pending from appeals made by energy companies and at least a further 2 proposed planning applications. You need to send your letters to :- Prime Minister & First Lord of the Treasury, 10 Downing Street, Westminster, London SW1A 2AA. For those of you who live in the Huntingdon area your MP is likely to be Shailesh Vara and his email address is and for East Northants it will be Louise Mensch

If you have not already done so please can you sign the petition REDUCE ELECTRICITY BILLS BY REFORMING THE SUBSIDIES FOR WIND FARMS on the HM Government Petition website ""By reducing or ending the subsidies for wind-farms, we would benefit the poorest members of society, boost our manufacturing exports and, while doing so, would help protect what remains of our precious countryside."" There are now over 5500 signatures but we need many more and it is the top petition for the Department for Energy and Climate Change so encourage friends and family to sign this petition.
