Update 25th March 2012
No planning application has been submitted yet by npower to Huntingdon District Council for the proposed Wind Farm at Molesworth.
The latest news on Public Enquiries for wind farms in our area has been mixed. It would appear a single Planning Inspector can overturn the views of the District Council and strong local opposition to permit the siting of wind turbines in inappropriate places because of the presumption that the wider benefits attributable to the project justify approval despite the impact on the local area.
* Bicton wind farm at Kimbolton the inspector for the public enquiry turned down the application by the energy company Broadview to overturn the decision by Huntingdon District Council to refuse planning permission. Great news for the Action Group which has worked tirelessly to counter the energy companies claims at the appeal hearing. More details can be found on the Action Group website http://www.stopbictonwindfarm.org.uk
* Stop Woolley Hill wind farm action group at Ellington the inspector has allowed the appeal by RES and planning permission has been granted for 4 turbines to be constructed near Ellingotn. Further information can be found at http://stopwoolleyhillwindfarm.org
* The Barnwell Manor wind farm, near Lyveden New Bield, again the inspector has allowed the appeal by the energy company permitting 4 wind turbines to built near this historically important site. More details can be found at http://www.stopbarnwellmanorwindfarm.org.uk
A new action group has set up in our area opposing the installation of three 126 metre high turbines at Southoe near Grafham Water. Action group details and further information can be found at http://www.stopcommonbarnwindfarm.com
In order to support the stand the 100+ MPs made in writing to the Prime Minister and increasing media coverage on the subject of the unsuitability of wind turbines for sustainable, cost effective energy supply, it is important to write stating your views, to the Prime Minister and your local MP. You need to send your letters to :- Prime Minister & First Lord of the Treasury, 10 Downing Street, Westminster, London SW1A 2AA. For those of you who live in the Huntingdon area your MP is likely to be Shailesh Vara and his email address is VARAS@parliament.uk and for East Northants it will be Louise Mensch email@example.com
If you have not already done so please can you sign the petition REDUCE ELECTRICITY BILLS BY REFORMING THE SUBSIDIES FOR WIND FARMS on the HM Government Petition website http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/22704 ""By reducing or ending the subsidies for wind-farms, we would benefit the poorest members of society, boost our manufacturing exports and, while doing so, would help protect what remains of our precious countryside."" There are now over 6500 signatures but we need many more and it is the top petition for the Department for Energy and Climate Change so encourage friends and family to sign this petition.
If you have any suggestions, comments or require further information please let me know.
Thank you for your continued support,
