IMPORTANT MONDAY 17 JUNE HDC MEETING
(4 May 2013)
NEWSLETTER NUMBER 26 - 4 MAY 2013

Hi Everyone,

PLEASE ATTEND THE HUNTINGDON DISTRICT COUNCIL PLANNING MEETING ON MONDAY 17TH JUNE AT 7.00PM AT THE CIVIC SUITE, PATHFINDER HOUSE, HUNTINGDON.

The planning application by RWE npower for six 126 metre turbines is to be considered by the Development Management Panel on Monday June 17 although the energy company has taken the application direct to appeal due to non-determination by Huntingdon District Council. The Development Management Panel will be asked to indicate the decision it would have made on the application and the outcome will form the basis of the District Council's case at appeal. A Planning Inspector will be assigned to the case and they will conduct a public inquiry (later this year) at which all parties will be invited to give evidence. These will include the District Council, The Action Group and the energy company. The final decision rests with the individual Planning Inspector.

On Thursday we learnt that RWE npower had decided to take their wind farm application for Molesworth directly to the Planning Inspectorate on appeal. This is due to non-determination and occurs if the local authority does not issue a decision within eight weeks of the application being submitted. Once the application has gone to appeal, the decision about the application is out of the local authority's hands and will be decided by a planning inspector at a public inquiry where the Action Group will be represented to present the case on behalf of the local community.

Unfortunately RWE npower did not have the courtesy to inform the Action Group, and therefore the local community, directly about the action it was going to take and it was by chance we learnt about the situation. Our Planning Officer Andy Brand is on holiday until Tuesday when we hope to gain more information on this issue. The committee will be holding an emergency meeting next week once we have spoken to the Planning Officer and will update you on the next steps forward.

You may also wish to read yesterdays Cambridge Evening News article ""Wind farm firm to appeal over Molesworth turbines"" which you can view online at http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Huntingdon-St-Ives-St-Neots/Wind-farm-firm-to-appeal-over-Molesworth-turbines-20130503140755.htm

If you have not yet written or if there are any further issues you wish to raise concerning this planning application YOU MUST WRITE NOW to Huntingdon District Council. The address to write to is Steve Ingram, Head of Planning Services, Huntingdon District Council, Pathfinder House, Huntingdon, Cambs. PE29 3TN or email steve.ingram@huntsdc.gov.uk remember to include your address and the planning reference number 1200967FUL. Please ensure your letter is with HDC before the end of May 2013.

If you have any queries suggestions, comments, require further information or can help in any way please let me know.
