Woolley Hill Wind Farm Determination
(21 Jun 2011)
Huntingdon District Council Development Management Panel voted on 20 June 2011 to refuse the Wind Farm Planning Application by RES at Woolley Hill by 11 votes to 4. The Civic Suite was packed - standing room only, with local residents. The reasons given for refusal were the application would not conform to the District Councilís Wind Power SPD 2006 as it would be larger than maximum stated capacity of 2-3 wind turbines permitted in the Northern Wolds. Also 1 turbine would impact on the views from the Grade One listed All Saints Church at Ellington.

Update 9th June 2011
(9 Jun 2011)
Hi Everyone,

Again there is still no planning application submitted to Huntingdon District Council for the proposed Molesworth Wind Farm by npower. The committee continues to meet on a regular basis and we are in close contact with other local wind farm action groups.

The Woolley Hill Wind Farm (near Ellington) determination by Huntingdon District Council is on Monday 20th June at 7.00pm in the Civic Suite, Pathfinder House, St Mary's Street, Huntingdon, PE29 3TN. Please attend this meeting if at all possible and offer your support, it will also give you an insight into the democratic process. The Planning Officerís report which will be published on Friday is recommending ACCEPTANCE of the proposed Wind Farm at Woolley Hill.

I understand that RES (the energy company involved in the Woolley Hill proposal) employed a researcher to canvass opinion in Huntingdon town centre three weeks ago resulting in 536 letters/leaflets of support being accepted by Huntingdon District Council despite the deadline for such letters, concerning the Woolley Hill proposal, being early January this year. Only 2 of these letters were from residents in the villages, in the consultation area of the proposed wind farm site, which will experience the direct impact of having a wind farm on their doorstep. As a result I have had a request from their Action Group to ask people who have not already written to write to object to this proposal. Please write to Jenny Parsons, Planning Officer, Huntingdon District Council, Pathfinder House, St Mary's Street, Huntingdon, PE29 3TN or email her at Jennie.Parsons@huntingdonshire.gov.uk before 15th June 2011. Please quote the Planning Reference Number 1001741FUL and Woolley Hill Wind Farm and state your objections.

The Stop Bicton Action Group (Kimbolton) is still fund raising to ensure they can present a strong case at their appeal hearing in August. Visit their web site http://www.stopbictonwindfarm.org.uk for more information.

As usual we will keep you posted on any further developments in the area.

If you have any questions or require further information please contact me. Thank you for your continued support,

Vicky Wood
