Unanimous Vote by HDC to Reject Wind Farm
(17 Jun 2013)
Tonight Huntingdon District Council Development Management Panel voted unanimously to reject the proposed wind farm planning application by RWE npower for six 126 metre high turbines. The recommendations for refusal in the Planning Officer's report were fully accepted by all the Development Management Panel. It is these issues which the District Council will be fighting the appeal (based on non-determination) brought by RWE npower.

This is the first victory in what will be a long battle. The Planning Inquiry is expected to take place in December 2013 or January 2014. We will update you once further information is available.

It was standing room only in the Council Chamber and we would like to thank all of you who attended the meeting and showed RWE and the District Council that the local community is vehemently opposed to this wind farm. I would especially like to thank District Councillor for Ellington Ward Mike Baker, District Councillor for the Barnwell Ward Derek Capp, The Chairman of Bythorn and Keyston Parish Council Andrew Ford, The Chairman of Brington and Molesworth Parish Council Geoff Burn who all spoke passionately about the impact these turbines would have on the local community and the surrounding countryside.

Three members of the local community also voiced their dismay concerning this proposal reflecting the views of most local residents. A big thank you to Sarah, Jonathan and Colin for speaking out. Finally a huge vote of thanks to Zoe Woods who spoke so eloquently on behalf of the Action Group and the villages we represent.

The fight goes on, thank you everyone for your support so far we hope you will keep the momentum up.

THANK YOU a great result from HDC!!

CRUCIAL MEETING MONDAY 17 JUNE - PLEASE ATTEND
(16 Jun 2013)
1. CRUCIAL PLANNING MEETING ON MONDAY 17TH JUNE AT 7.00PM AT THE CIVIC SUITE, PATHFINDER HOUSE, HUNTINGDON. – Directions and Parking Info below.

***PLEASE attend this meeting in order to show that the local community is opposed to the wind farm.

***DO NOT allow RWE nPower the opportunity to claim local residents support the development - a large turnout will demonstrate the real views of the local community.

***We also need to ensure the District Council's Development Management Panel support the recommendations for refusal from the Planning Officer which will form the basis on how they will oppose the appeal. We need to demonstrate to the councillors that the local community strongly object to this planning application.

***The Planning Officer has now published his report and recommends refusal on the grounds that the development would create significant unacceptable impacts in relation to the heritage assets, landscape and residential amenity. You can view his report on the HDC website under our planning application in the section entitled Documents and Plans.

*** PARKING - The best car park is the Princes Street car park see link below. Follow the inner ring road round keeping in the right hand lane. Go past the exits on your left at traffic lights to Godmanchester and then the Bridge Hotel. Take the 2nd exit on your right Princes Street, as though going to the bus station (the one just after St Mary’s Street) and then the 2nd right into Malthouse Close. If you know where to go for the Waitrose carpark in Huntingdon instead of going up their ramp you follow the road to the right (there is a P sign.) If you park at the far end from Waitrose you take the little pedestrian alley way through to the District Council’s offices. Cross over the road and walk round to the left of the main council building to find the entrance of the Civic Suite Post Code PE29 3TN

The Latest Information - Newsletter 30
(11 Jun 2013)
NEWSLETTER NUMBER 30 – 10 JUNE 2013

PLANNING REFERENCE NUMBER 1200967FUL.

Hi Everyone,

1. A big thank you to everyone who attended the meeting last Thursday. At the meeting the committee outlined the steps forward to ensure the local community are well represented at the public inquiry which is likely to take place in December. In order to do this we will be employing a Planning Advisor and barrister as well as various expert witnesses. This all requires considerable funding and we need to raise around £45,000. Over half of this amount has already been pledged by many generous donors and we ask if you have made a pledge to now fulfil it and send a cheque to the Action Group or make a bank transfer – details at the bottom of this email.

If you have not yet donated or would like to give a further donation please can you do so now as we need to know what funding we have in place by early July when the Planning Inspectorate ask for comments on what areas we will be objecting on.

2. PLANNING MEETING ON MONDAY 17TH JUNE AT 7.00PM AT THE CIVIC SUITE, PATHFINDER HOUSE, HUNTINGDON.

***The Planning Officer has now published his report and recommends refusal on the grounds that the development would create significant unacceptable impacts in relation to the heritage assets, landscape and residential amenity. You can view his report on the HDC website under our planning application in the section entitled Documents and Plans.

***Yet again a plea for as many people to attend this meeting in order to show that the local community is opposed to the wind farm.

***Please do NOT allow RWE nPower the opportunity to claim local residents support the development a large turnout will show the real views of the local community.

***We also need to ensure the District Council's Development Management Panel support the recommendations for refusal from the Planning Officer which will form the basis on how they will oppose the appeal. We need to demonstrate to the councillors that the local community strongly object to this planning application.

PLEASE ATTEND ON MONDAY 17 JUNE.

3. BUS TO MEETING - In an earlier newsletter we advertised the possibility of a bus to the meeting on 17 June. Unfortunately the cost of the bus is prohibitive so we are encouraging people to lift share within villages. If you need directions, advice on parking, or a lift or can offer a lift please contact: info@stopmolesworthwindfarm.org.uk by Friday 14 June. All those who showed interest in taking the bus will be contacted by a member of the Action Group to arrange a lift share.

4. PATHWAYS TO PIMMS BBQ - Our first major fund-raising event will be held at Scotts Farmhouse, Bythorn on Saturday 27 July from 2.00pm to 6.00pm. Tickets cost £15 for adults (to include 2 glasses of Pimms, burger, sausage, nibbles to start and sweet things to finish) and £5 for children (same as above but a soft drink instead of the Pimms – all children must be accompanied by an adult). We hope people will come in groups from each village and perhaps use our footpaths to attend this event. If you would like a ticket please email the Action Group (see 3 above) or ring 01832 710612.

We would appreciate help from other villages to host fund raising events. If you would like to host an event or would like help to host an event please contact us.

5. RECENT GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS – Many of you will have read with interest the recent announcement by The Communities and Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles about changes to the planning guidance for onshore wind farms. In the announcement he expressed concern that ""insufficient weight is being given to environmental considerations like landscape, heritage and local amenity""

The government also called for wind farm developers to increase the amount of money they sometimes pay into local community funds and for greater account to be taken of local opinion. We welcome these announcements and believe they will add weight to the planning reasons for refusal of this application already detailed by the HDC Planning Officer. We await further details and updates concerning these announcements to fully understand how they will impact on our application.

6. DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED - Any donation large or small is very welcome. Please make your cheque payable to ""Stop Molesworth AG"", and send it to Stop Molesworth AG, Scotts Farmhouse, Bythorn, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, PE28 0QP, please include your address in the envelope as we would like to issue receipts for all money donated.

Please give as generously as you can. Details of how unused funds will be returned to donors can be found at www.stopmolesworthwindfarm.org.uk

If you have any queries suggestions, comments, require further information or can help in any way please let me know.

Thank you for your continued support,
