Reduce Wind Farm Subsidies NOW - Campaign
(25 Jul 2013)
Hi Everyone,

1. National Campaign - The latest campaign from Together Against Wind (championed by the MP Chris Heaton-Harris) is Reduce Wind Farm Subsidies NOW. This campaign is gathering momentum but needs your support.

Please could you take the time to make your views known by visiting http://www.togetheragainstwind.com/reduce-wind-farm-subsidies-now/ where there is a simple and easy way to send a letter to the Rt. Hon Michael Fallon MP, the Energy Minister and your MP.

The Rt. Hon Michael Fallon MP, the Energy Minister & The Department of Energy & Climate (DECC) actually need to see just how much local opinion and rural communities are against these unwanted developments. Reducing the subsidies that are paid to Wind Farm Developers will be of great benefit to all by reducing our energy bills.

Unfortunately the draft Energy Bill proposes to replace the ROC system with what amounts to a guaranteed price called a ‘Strike Price’. The draft bill is for £100 per MWHr for onshore wind commissioned in 2015, £155 for offshore and £125 for solar. The prices have been set deliberately high to encourage investors to build more wind farms. If we do not express our views this bill will go ahead and inflate the cost of our energy and actively encourage the building of more wind farms against the wishes of local communities.

The opportunity to influence the subsidy is NOW - and it is important that the Energy Minister is sent a strong message that the proposed subsidy is too high. Please act today and visit the Together Against Wind website (address given above) scroll down to the bottom of the page and insert your email address and postcode. You will be presented with a menu to fill in your address etc and then boxes to tick to format your letter. It should only take 3 minutes of your time and you will be sent an email of a copy of the letter for your records.

2. PRE-INQUIRY MEETING DATE has been set for MONDAY 23 SEPTEMBER 2013 at 2.00pm at Pathfinder House, St Mary’s Street, Huntingdon, PE29 3TN. It is important that as many people attend this meeting as possible so please put this date in your diary. We have also been informed that the planning Inspector will be Robert Mellor.

3. NEW WIND TURBINE - Many of you will have seen the wind turbine near Old Weston and Leighton Bromswold which went up 10 days ago. This turbine is 34.2 metres tall to the blade tip and the six wind turbines proposed for Molesworth wind farm will be over 3 1/2 times this height at 126 metres. This begins to give an idea of the impact the Molesworth wind turbines would have on the landscape if permission is granted.
